“Hummus never tasted so good!”
Introducing traditional Lebanese-style hummus and baba ghanoush lovingly and locally prepared following a family recipe handed down through generations.
Hummus (/ˈhʊməs/, /ˈhʌməs/)
The full Arabic name: ḥummuṣ bi-ṭaḥīna
Arabic: حمص بالطحينة, ‘chickpeas in tahini’
Hummus is a popular Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dip, spread, or savory dish made from cooked, mashed chickpeas blended with tahini (sesame seed paste), lemon juice, garlic and salt.
Our Authentically Lebanese Hummus bi Tahini is prepared from the freshest ingredients and will never contain the unfortunate extras found in store bought hummus: vinegar, soybean oil, citric acid, potassium sorbate, sunflower oil and guar gum.
Jim and Pam Pulsifer of Authentically Lebanese are delivering their family favorite to the Sarasota and Manatee regional markets and the freshest hummus craze is contagious!
Baba Ghanoush (/ bɑːbə – ɡəˈnuːʃ, – ɡəˈnuːʒ/)
Arabic: بابا غنوج, bābā ġannūj
‘The bābā is a Persian word that means ‘father’ and is also a term of endearment, while ġannūj could be a personal name. The word combination is also interpreted as “father of coquetry” or “spoiled old daddy”.’
Baba ghanoush is a Levantine appetizer of Lebanese origin consisting of mashed cooked eggplant, olive oil, lemon juice, various seasonings, and sometimes tahini. It may be served with onions, tomatoes, or other vegetables. The eggplant is traditionally baked or broiled over an open flame before peeling so that the pulp is soft and has a smoky taste. It is a typical meze (‘starter’) of the regional cuisine, often served as a side to a main meal and as a dip for pita bread.
Everyone has loved our hummus bi tahini and many have asked for more. We are proud to introduce our Authentically Lebanese Baba Ghanoush prepared from the freshest ingredients. None of our products that we serve for you will ever contain the unfortunate extras found in store-bought versions: vinegar, soybean oil, citric acid, potassium sorbate, sunflower oil, and guar gum.
Our Family Tradition
Pam Pulsifer learned how to cook traditional Lebanese cuisine by her Immee’s, (mother’s) side. Her family cherished its heritage by sticking to the old country’s ways of cooking.
Cherished recipes and ways of preparing food have been passed down generation to generation. Now Pam’s daughter Lauren is learning from her mother and grandmother as well.
